Ways to get involved that suit you

01/02/2012

Personal feedback

We welcome individual thoughts and comments. Contact your Customer Advisoror the Resident Involvement Team and let them know your views.
Commitment: As often as you want

Service focus groups

Focus groups are “one-off” meetings arranged by RHP to examine specific issues or service areas. They are a good way of sharing views with other residents and raising concerns and ideas. We use focus groups to get residents’ views on services. You can tell us how you rate a particular service and how you think we can improve it. We commit to telling you how your feedback has influenced services and you will receive a summary of the meeting and any planned actions. Service focus groups can also cover issues like cyclical repairs, larger works and maintenance.
Commitment: 2 hours, every few months

Resident volunteer and block representatives

If your area is not covered by a Residents’ Association you can still get involved in the running of the organisation. Representatives act as a contact point between RHP and residents. Resident volunteers may be involved with monitoring areas such as caretaking, grounds maintenance, communal repairs or anti-social behaviour. If you would like to represent your block or street, please call the Resident Involvement Team who will guide you through the process.
Commitment: From 1 hour a week

Community events

RHP plays a key part in running numerous local community events. Our Community Development Team use a variety of ways to get feedback from residents, for example we have existing groups for parents, young mums, older people, people from ethnic minorities and young people whose regular meetings we will sometimes attend to find out about their needs and raise their awareness of how they can influence RHP’s services.
Commitment: As much or as little as you want

Area Housing panels

Area Panels are made up of representatives nominated by resident groups. The Area Panel will participate in setting standards for the local area and feedback on the quality of services provided by RHP. The Area Panel manages an Environmental Improvement budget for the estates in its area. Representatives from the Area Panel serve on RHP’s Service Delivery Committee
Commitment: 2 hours for each meeting, 4 times a year

Service Delivery Committee (SDC)

The Committee is made up of members of the board, resident representatives and the Chairs of the Area Panels. SDC monitors the performance and makes recommendations to the Board on a wide range of areas of RHP’s operations and service delivery.
Commitment: 4 meetings a year

Board of management

The Board of Management is made up of four resident representatives, four Richmond Council nominees and four independent members. The board is RHP’s governing body and makes decisions on funding, policies and the direction of the service. Resident Board members reflect the proportion of tenants and leaseholders within RHP’s housing stock. There are currently three tenant representatives elected by tenants and one leasehold representative elected by leaseholders. Any tenant or leaseholder of the Partnership is eligible to stand for election.
Commitment: From 6 meetings a year

Resident inspectors – The ‘you know best’ team

In this programme residents are invited to ‘play detective’ and test our services to see if they are delivering on our promises. Full training and support is provided. Residents who have taken part have enjoyed the experience and really contributed to improving services for everyone. We train interested residents to go out and inspect the quality of the services that affect the lives of RHP residents, including caretaking, grounds maintenance and voids and lettings.
Commitment: From 3 hours per project

Residents’ Associations

These are local resident groups, elected by their communities. Residents’ Associations are effective in raising local issues, working with us to agree local service standards and can also receive funding and training from RHP. They are consulted about services that affect their estates, such as caretaking, grounds maintenance, anti-social behaviour and possible improvements. All Residents’ Associations are entitled to nominate a representative to their Area Housing Panels.
Commitment: From 1 hour a month

Surveys

If you want to get involved with decision-making but don’t want to attend meetings, you can do so by participating in the surveys that we undertake throughout the year. We may contact you occasionally about services you have received such as repairs, complaints, or our customer service centre. Or we may ask you to give us broader feedback about our service.
Commitment: A few minutes

Residents consultation bank

Any RHP resident can join the Consultation Bank. All you need to do is tell us what you’re interested in – for example, repairs, rent or anti-social behaviour and how you’d like to be involved: phone call, email, survey, meetings. We will add your details to the Bank and when RHP is looking at a topic you’re interested in, we’ll contact you.
Commitment: From 5 minutes upwards
