Digital TV switch over
In 2012 we will switch from an analogue television signal to a digital signal. To be able to watch television you will need to convert to one of systems listed below. When the switch takes place some older TV aerials may not be able to receive the new digital signal and will need to be replaced for a modern model (Your local aerial company should be able to advise).

Freeview
You can do this by buying a freeview box (ask at your TV shop or main supermarkets). This works with your existing television so you don’t have to get a new one. If you do upgrade your set, many TVs now have freeview built in. Freeview boxes will work with an existing analogue aerial but the aerial may need upgrading in 2012 when the change over occurs.
Cable TV
You can sign up with providers like Virgin Media, Tiscali or BT Vision. These usually come with a phone package although you don’t always have to take this.
Satellite dish
You usually have to sign up to Sky to use this – either as a one off payment or through a monthly fee. You will need to check with RHP to see whether you can have a satellite dish as we do not always allow them to be fitted.
If you live in a block of flats
Where we currently provide a communal aerial, we are upgrading these to receive the digital signal. You do not need to do anything and our contractors, SCCI, will write to you before any work is carried out. We advise that once you receive this letter that you contact SCCI using the number provided or if you would prefer, our Building Services Team. Please be aware that delay may result in poor picture quality or no service at all and additional rechargeable costs.
The majority of work associated with the aerial system in your block is carried out in communal areas or externally but we do need access to your home for approximately thirty minutes to install a new aerial socket. This is very minor work but without it we cannot maintain or guarantee your TV picture. We will not be installing new aerials in blocks where we do not currently provide one.
