1906 was a very memorable year. Rolls Royce was founded, Mr Kellogg invented Cornflakes and Einstein introduced his theory of relativity to the world. It was also the year when Ms Ellen Anderson of Barnes was born. On Sunday the 8th August Ms Anderson celebrated her 104th birthday at her RHP home . Ms Anderson has lived in RHP’s Retirement Housing scheme, Baynes House, for the last 15 years and has lived in Barnes her whole life, once owning a ladies fashion store in the area.
Ellen’s top tips for a long and healthy life are to keep busy, meet lots of different people and travel lots. Her memories of the two World Wars are very clear and she’s amazed by how much the world has changed over the years. Ellen is very grateful for her good health. She said: “I’ve always been very active and I’m lucky to be in good health. I still don’t even need to wear glasses”.
RHP’s Retirement Housing Manager, Tracey Elliott, visited Mrs Anderson to present her with a card and flowers on behalf of RHP. “Ms Anderson is amazing," she said. "We think she’s RHP’s oldest customer but she’s still very young at heart. I’d like to wish her a very Happy Birthday from everybody at RHP”.
