Adapting my home

We want all our customers to enjoy living safely and comfortably in their home, sometimes this will mean making some changes to suit your particular needs. This could be something simple like a grab rail to help you to get in and out of the bath to a stairlift or an adapted kitchen.

Who pays for the changes?

Councils have a legal responsibility to provide certain support. Richmond and Hounslow both offer Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) on the basis of need.

RHP provide funding for small things from our own resources.  This can cover the provision of stair or grab rails, repositioning of plugs or sockets or adjusting light switches or door handles.

Who might need changes to their home?

Adaptations can be important to any customer who has a disability or becomes less physically able. Adaptations are also important to older people who find it difficult to bathe, bend or use stairs within their home as they grow older. Please tell us if you feel you need support so we can help you to get the assistance that you need.
