Board update

Here's the latest update from Simon Devonshire, RHP's Chair of the Board:

"At the start of a new year, it is always a great moment to reflect and think about what has been achieved and where we are going. 2021 continued to be a challenge for many reasons, and with the impact of the pandemic and Brexit starting to be felt on labour availability and material costs, it is something that RHP has continued to work through.

"In the Board meeting in December, the Board was pleased to see that the performance of the call centre had improved, and as customers, you were able to get through more quickly and have your questions resolved. Work is still ongoing to improve the performance of our repairs and get back to our pre-pandemic service levels. The Board was reassured with the plan presented by the Executive Group and I hope that 2022 will see continued improvement, with this remaining our top priority.

"Risk was a key focus of this Board session and ensuring that RHP can mitigate and manage the constantly changing external environment. This includes decisions we make on rent charges and development plans, especially in light of increasing inflation. We know that coming into 2022 we have to continue to work on keeping homes safe, which includes incorporating learnings from the Grenfell tragedy. Our sustainability work aims for all our homes to be at an energy rating C by 2030.

"I look forward to sharing more with you after our next Board meeting in March where our plans for 2022-23 are agreed upon. In the meantime, as the weather has become colder, we’re continuing to support our more vulnerable customers through our Winter Warmer campaign, signposting to additional support and use of our hardship fund. And we also ask that you help us to keep your boiler healthy by booking in your gas and boiler service as soon as you’re notified a check is due."
