Fire safety work and COVID-19

Published: 03/01/2021

We place an absolute priority on fire safety across all our customers’ homes, which is why we are continuing with our fire safety programme during the coronavirus pandemic, to prevent the spread of fire and smoke.

This includes:

Fire stopping and compartmentation to communal areas
This involves filling holes and areas where cables and wires come through walls and ceilings with fireproof mastic or foam. It may also involve replacing fire-resisting panels and compartment walls in communal corridors, cupboards and loft spaces.

Communal fire door repairs
This might mean easing and adjusting communal doors so they close fully, or replacing smoke seals on the doors that have perished or are missing.

Replacing flat doors with certified fire doors
This involves changing a flat door to one that has a 30-minute fire resistance and is certified to meet current fire safety requirements.

Repairing flat doors
This may involve changing a lock to fire door or replacing damaged glazing.

During this time, our accredited fire safety contractors will not enter your home to carry out any work. Operatives will be limited to two people on site at any time and will follow all government guidelines.
