LaunchPod: Where Innovation Lives

19th October 2017

RHP’s LaunchPod is our latest innovation, a 26 sqm one bedroom flat and the first modular home to be made in L&G’s revolutionary factory. This building method uses high quality materials and ensures faster construction, a more eco-friendly build and a marked development cost reduction compared with traditional builds.

The clever use of space from architects Wimshurst Pelleriti means that homes can incorporate many of the features of a much larger flat with the space being made to work hard. Key priorities included dedicated space for cooking, eating, sleeping, washing, and studying or work, as well as to store essential items and to have visitors during the day, evening or to stay overnight.

The units have been designed to be flexible across many sites in different arrangements (e.g. next to or on top of each other) so all servicing and opening have been planned to work harmoniously together. As well as providing as much ‘living’ space as possible, private external space was required for all units, whether that is a front terrace or a balcony.

RHP will be using the homes to break into the intermediate market- helping the growing group of people who don’t qualify for social housing but are priced out of the private market. This includes (but isn’t limited to) graduates, young professionals and key workers who have a yearly income range of £15,000-£55,000.

In short, you’re looking at the future of sleek and sustainable living!

RHP has identified a number of sites where they are confident they can deliver their LaunchPod homes and are working up full planning applications.

Keep your eyes peeled for further LaunchPod updates coming soon.
