An eye on RHPi | The people’s award
Last week I was delighted and very humbled to win ‘Most people focussed CEO’ of the year at the HR Excellence Awards. This award isn’t just for me however – it’s for the whole of RHP as it’s our people that make the difference.
I was honoured to be in amongst nominees from big names such as McDonalds, Lush and Three, reflecting that whatever the size of the organisation, strong leadership is integral in creating a strong, unique culture and a great place to work. I could talk for hours about how we’ve done this at RHP but here are three simple rules I live by:
Surround yourself with the right people
Big egos don’t lead the organisation, real people do! I’m committed in ensuring I have the right people working with me who will help me cultivate and protect our culture and who are curious, humble and confident.
Everyone’s a leader
At RHP we see everyone as a leader empowering people to problem solve and make decisions whatever their role or level. Quite simply I believe true leadership happens in the moment between people and that there is no one way of leading.
Dream…then make it real
We actually have this written on one of our walls in our office – I love it as it encapsulates that sense that anything is possible. One of the most noticeable things about RHP’s culture is a positive “can do” approach to work. There is a palpable sense that anything is possible and ordinary people working together can achieve extraordinary things.
I think I’ve got the best job in the world! It’s been my pleasure and privilege to form RHP right at the start and see it grow from strength to strength over the last 16 years.
Being an excellent employer has always been at the heart of RHP since it was formed in 2000 and today more than ever, ensuring RHP remains a great place to work is imperative if we are to continue to innovate and become one of the best service providers in the UK.
