Planning permission granted for independent living redevelopment
We've received planning permission to rebuild one of our existing retirement schemes, Somerville House, bringing much-needed new independent living homes to South-West London.
After receiving a unanimous decision in favour to grant planning permission the Richmond Planning Committee commended us for the design of the rebuild. Included in the development will be 24 one-bedroom flats as well as a range of communal facilities for independent living for people aged over 55.
Working with architects, Wimshurst Pelleriti, Sommerville House (which is located near Twickenham) will showcase the best in modern and sustainable methods of construction. The sleek and contemporary design will give residents a high-quality place to live. The scheme will also boast eco-enhancing features such as green roofs.
RHP’s Executive Director of Development, Tim Willcocks, says: “It’s fantastic to have received planning for the redevelopment of this landmark retirement living scheme. This will provide exceptional new homes that are so crucially needed. We’re also really proud to be leading the way in meeting the need for high quality independent retirement schemes that more appropriately match the aspirations of this growing market.”
In addition to our redevelopment programme we've committed to build 1,000 new homes over the next five years.
