The latest on Universal Credit

14th April 2020

We appreciate this unique period might bring additional challenges, this is why we want to be on-hand in any way that we can.

If you’re now in the situation where you need to make a claim for Universal Credit (UC) the official advice is to call 0800 328 5644, you’ll then be helped with setting everything up. Here is more additional official advice from the government:

“For the duration of the outbreak, the requirements of the minimum income floor in Universal Credit will be temporarily relaxed for those directly affected by COVID-19 or self-isolating according to government advice for duration of the outbreak, ensuring self-employed claimants will be compensated for losses in income.”

If you have an existing UC claim then communications will be carried out via telephone, rather than face-to-face at the Jobcentre, for at least three months.

Don’t forget, you can make use of the Benefits calculator here.

If you’re over pension age but still working part time then we’d recommend you make a Pension Credit claim. The following sites will help you with this:

In the meantime if there’s anything else we can help with please email customer.services@rhp.org.uk or you can web chat with us here: https://www.rhp.org.uk/rhpui/chat-panel
