Could downsizing be right for you?

If you're a customer living in Richmond borough and have spare bedrooms you're not using, Richmond Council's Downsizing Right Fit scheme might help you move to a home that fits your needs better – and they'll pay you to do it.

What you'll get

Richmond Council will give you:

• £3,000 for every bedroom you give up – up to £12,000
• £500 as a one-off payment
• A professional removal company to move your things
• Up to eight weeks' rent covered while you move

There are some criteria and terms and conditions.

How it works

You tell them what kind of home you'd like and they'll try to find one that's right for you. And if you change your mind, that's fine – you don't have to move.

You'll need to fill in an application on Richmond Council's website first. When you've done that, you'll get a reference number. Email it to their Allocation and Mobility Team at [email protected] and they'll help you through it.
