Our beliefs

At RHP, we believe in the need for sustainability, resilience and the importance of ESG considerations in investment decisions. Our approach to ESG components is essential to how we create a better business and a better society, and we believe in demonstrating excellence in not only what we do, but how we do it.

Environmental

Development of green buildings which meet a minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Rating of B or above on:

  • Construction of new homes.
  • Regeneration of communities.

Additional initiatives include:

  • Retrofit pilot in Barnes to deliver EPC “C” targets – £2.62m Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) secured.
  • BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) certified office building.
  • Investing in projects to add renewable energy systems to buildings, including photovoltaics to generate clean energy.
  • A pitched roofing renewal programme that includes installing photovoltaics (solar panels) as a standard feature.
  • SMART technology: Installation of energy-saving technology aimed at delivering savings in residents’ homes and improving energy usage.
  • Transitioning our pool car fleet to electric vehicles to reduce staff travel emissions.

Social

We are dedicated to financing the construction of new social and affordable housing, as well as refinancing existing homes. Our properties comply with the government’s definition of social and affordable housing, including shared ownership within the relevant income thresholds.

We also provide supported and sheltered housing to meet diverse needs. With rents set at less than 50% of the market value, we deliver significant social value—estimated at £77 million

We invest in initiatives that enhance the lives of our customers, employees, and communities, ensuring equal opportunities, improved wellbeing, and financial support. Our key initiatives include:

  • New Neighbourhood & Communities Team – Dedicated to strengthening local communities (case study available).
  • Apprenticeships & Employment – Five apprentices directly employed, plus an additional nine through social value clauses with our repairs and compliance partners, generating real local impact.
  • Financial Support Services – Providing advice and assistance to help customers navigate financial challenges.
  • Entrepreneurial & Work Skills Support – Helping individuals develop commercial skills and employment opportunities.
  • Mental & Physical Health Support – Programs focused on improving overall wellbeing.

Governance

Since our inception in 2000, we have consistently retained a G1/V1 governance and viability rating, reaffirmed in December 2023 following the annual stability check.

In 2024, we adopted a revised Governance Framework, strengthening our committee structure and clarifying oversight of our subsidiaries.

We uphold strong internal controls, including:

  • A comprehensive internal audit process,
  • Ongoing stress testing and mitigation planning for business resilience, and
  • Best-in-class health and safety management.

Our commitment to governance ensures long-term stability, regulatory compliance, and a strong foundation for sustainable growth.
