Considering a repairs claim?
What you should know

Our in-house repairs service is designed to provide a safe and efficient service that helps protect your home for today and tomorrow. We aim to resolve your repairs to your satisfaction, but if you're unhappy with any aspect of the service, please let us know. We'll work with you to understand the issue and put things right.
You might have seen adverts or had callers at your door promising quick compensation for home repairs. Before you sign anything, here's what you need to know:
- 'No win, no fee' can be misleading. If you lose the case, you might still have to pay for expensive legal surveys or court costs. Some people have ended up in debt after a claim failed.
- Once you hire a solicitor, we usually have to stop talking to you directly and only speak to your lawyer. This adds a huge amount of paperwork, and it can take longer to get your repairs finished.
- Both sets of solicitors have to agree on a professional surveyor to visit your home and write a report. Once the report is finished, both sides have to read it and agree on what it says before work can begin. This can leave you waiting much longer than if you'd reported the repair to us directly.
- Even if you win compensation, companies often take 40% or more of the money to pay their own fees. You end up with a small amount, while they take the rest.
If you're unhappy with a repair, use our Complaints Process. It costs nothing, and we'll do our best to work with you, fix the problem and offer fair compensation if we’ve let you down. You're also protected by The Housing Ombudsman’s Complaint Handling Code.
