Warm, safe homes for winter

Published: 02/11/2026

Now is the ideal time to make sure your home stays warm, safe, and comfortable throughout the colder months. Here are some tips to help you prepare:

·        We service your gas appliances every year to make it less likely your boiler will break down. When your appointment comes around, please make sure someone is home to let our engineer in. Get in touch if you need to reschedule.

·        Turn on your central heating for 10–15 minutes to make sure your radiators heat up evenly. If they're cold at the top, they may need bleeding.

·        Prevent damp and mould by keeping extractor fans running during and after cooking or showering, and leaving a small gap between furniture and external walls to let air circulate.

·        Check your boiler pressure: the needle on your boiler gauge should sit between 1.0 and 1.5 bar when the heating is off.
