What can I do if I want to move home?
If you’re an existing RHP customer renting a home from us, and you’d like to move home, there are a few different options:
- You can register on Homeswapper, and look for someone who wants to swap homes with you. Once you’ve found someone, fill out an application form, and send it back to us.
- You can register for Home Choice, our choice-based lettings scheme, where you can bid online for RHP rental properties.
- You can register with your local council. Most rental homes come to us this way: for every four homes that become available to re-let, each council has the right to allocate three. If you no longer need to live in a family-sized rental home, most councils also offer a downsizing incentive scheme.
- If you’re aged 55+, you may be eligible for independent retirement living with RHP. Our properties are mostly studios, and one-bedroom flats. Existing RHP retirement housing customers who need to move should contact their scheme manager: transfers are usually on medical grounds. Older customers who need more support should contact their local council for details. RHP has two extra care schemes in Richmond, allocated through Richmond council’s Social Services Team.
- If you want move out of London, there’s the Mayor of London's Seaside & Country Homes scheme, open to households living in council or housing association properties where at least one member of the household is aged 55 or above.
- If you’re currently living in one of our keyworker homes and need to move, you may be able to join our keyworker waiting list. We also accept direct applications from non-RHP customers. Just to let you know though, these property vacancies are rare - so there’s likely to be a long wait.
