Free school meals support this summer

The school holidays are a welcome break, but they can add pressure to family budgets. Without term-time meals, food costs often rise at the same time.

If your child usually gets free school meals, we can support you with a food voucher over the summer. Our summer holiday support runs from 13 July to 11 September 2026.

Do you get free school meals?

We can help you with a food voucher over the school holidays if:

• you receive Universal Credit Child Benefit, or
• your children are in secondary school and are eligible for free school meals.

To apply, email [email protected] with the subject line 'Financial Inclusion Summer Holidays Support'.

Please include proof that you're eligible. Applications close on 11 September.

Need a bit of extra help but don't get free school meals?

You might still be able to get support with a food voucher, so it's worth checking.

Start by completing our Better Off calculator. You'll find it on the Financial Support page of our website. It's a quick way to check what help you could be entitled to.

Once you've finished, email your results to [email protected] with the subject line 'Financial Inclusion Summer Holidays Support BC'. You can also use the 'send to advisor' function inside the Better Off calculator.

We'll review your request within 14 working days.
