Whether you're on the hunt for some planting knowledge, or are simply looking for a peaceful spot to connect with nature, these local gems are well worth a look.

Kew Gardens

Home to rare and exotic plant life for over 180 years, with a rich history and jaw-dropping scenery, it’s the perfect place to start your plant-loving journey.
From greenhouses to planted walkways, there’s plenty to see. Anyone receiving Universal or Pension Credit can get in for just £1, and with a children’s garden and a café, it’s ideal for a family day out.

Richmond Park

London's largest park is Richmond. It's filled with plenty of plants that can provide you with inspiration for your home. And the best part? You can enjoy all the natural beauty for free.

Isabella Plantation, known for its rare and unusual flowers, is a must-see. If you’re a fan of more traditional plants like roses and wildflowers, then Pembroke Lodge Gardens is an ideal place to take a stroll.

Bushy Park

Free to enter on the other side of Richmond is Bushy Park, home to some of London’s prettiest greenery and wildlife. A perfect spot for a dog walk among the trees, it’s hard not to become a plant-fanatic once you’ve visited.

Woodland Gardens, a short walk away from the Thames, is an excellent spot for walking among water-based plants like giant plantains and skunk cabbages: both of which are a lot prettier than their names suggest!

Hampton Court Gardens

Hampton Court Palace’s world-famous gardens include 60 acres of spectacular formal gardens and 750 acres of parkland, set within a loop of the River Thames. You can even see the largest grapevine in the world! Access to the gardens is free from 16-17 September, and 18-19 November (you'll need to pay an entrance fee for the palace).

Ham House and Gardens

Located on the banks of the Thames, the garden at Ham House is a unique space filled with cherry trees, lavender plants, and even a ‘silent spaces’ section where visitors can enjoy peace and quiet while enjoying the scenery. Take it all in on a free tour led by an expert.

Visitors can also buy fruit & veg from the shop, with proceeds going towards the garden. Keen to sharpen your gardening skills? Ham House has volunteering opportunities for those looking to lend a hand.
