RSH consumer standards consultation

Published: 18/08/2023

The Social Housing Regulation Act 2023 has received Royal Assent officially becoming law.

We welcome the Act, which aims to strengthen tenants’ rights, making sure that you live in safe, quality homes, have choice and protection, and can hold us to account as your landlord.

A key part of the Act, is a set of new proposed consumer standards, which the Regulator is currently asking for feedback on through a consultation.

The standards cover four key areas:

  • The Safety and Quality Standard
  • The Transparency, Influence and Accountability Standard
  • The Neighbourhood and Community Standard
  • The Tenancy Standard

You can find the full proposed consumer standards here.

How to get involved

As part of the consultation, the Regulator is asking for views from tenants, landlords, and anyone else interested in social housing.

We will be putting thought and care into our consultation response. This will include seeking tenants’ views through our Customer Scrutiny Group. We also encourage you to send any thoughts you have on the proposed standards to: [email protected].

Or if you’d prefer to respond directly to the Regulator, you can complete this survey.

The consultation closes at 6pm on 17 October 2023.

It is expected that the final set of standards will apply from April 2024 – we’ll keep you updated about any changes we make as a result.

We look forward to working with the Regulator to help fulfil our purpose of providing you with safe, secure, affordable homes.
