Time running out for energy vouchers

Published: 12/06/2023

Did you know that there are energy prepayment vouchers available to help manage your energy costs? With an approaching deadline of 30 June, act before time runs out!

What are energy prepayment vouchers?

Energy prepayment vouchers were originally introduced as a part of the government’s energy bill support scheme in the autumn of 2022. Around £130 million worth of vouchers are still said to be unclaimed nationwide.

They are available for any household with a prepayment energy meter. Offering flexibility, convenience and control over your energy expenses, they allow you to pay for your energy usage in advance, much like mobile phone top-ups.

Why use energy prepayment vouchers?

  • Manage your energy costs effectively and avoid surprises in your bills.
  • No more unexpected bills when you pay up front for your energy.
  • Choose the voucher amount that suits your household size and budget.

How to use energy prepayment vouchers?

Redeem vouchers at authorised top-up points, such as post offices or PayPoint shops. Note that Payzone outlets don’t accept these vouchers.

Prepayment meter customers will have received energy vouchers via email, text or post for redemption when previously topping up. If this isn’t the case, or you have vouchers that have gone past the 90-day redemption period, contact your energy supplier to request replacements.
